We’re Kyenjojo District Coffee & Vanilla Farmer Cooperative — 480+ smallholder farmers growing cocoa, coffee, and vanilla with one shared mission: to farm with dignity, protect our land, and build a poverty-free community from the ground up

Our Story

Our crops

Our main crops are vanilla, cocoa and coffee. However we also grow jackfruit, avocado, and other seasonal crops. Because resilience matters. Because the market shifts. Because our families need income year-round.

Hand-pollinated, shade-grown, and harvested with care. Our vanilla is full of flavor — and free from exploitation.

Cocoa

Cocoa farming is an art - and we’re investing in mastering it. With support from JESE and Forests of the World, we’re building a centralized fermentation station to unlock our specialty cocoa potential. This will help us secure better prices and deliver some of the best cocoa in Uganda.

Coffee

Grown in fertile highland soils, our coffee plants thrive under canopies of native trees. The result? Bright, bold, beautifully balanced beans.

We farm with a purpose. And with principles:

Farmers only

Every member is a farmer — no traders, no speculators.

No exploitation

Fair pay, no child labour, no discrimination, no hierarchy.

Transparency

Full transparency — in decisions, sales, and finances.

Our Model

Keynjojo is more than a cooperative. It’s a community.

We support each other on and off the farm - with trainings, mentorship, budgeting, marketing, and more.

  • General Assembly — where all major decisions are made

  • Executive Committee — elected by and accountable to the members

  • RPOs (Rural Producer Organizations) groups of 30 farmers who meet regularly

  • ToTs (Trainers of Trainers) experienced leaders who train the CBTs

We are organicically certified and farm using agroforestry models to increase biodiversity

Our Vision - We want to be the best smallholder producers in Uganda — not just in quality, but in how we treat people and the planet. A poverty-free community isn’t just our goal. It’s our north star. Together, we’re farming for change.
